This paper presents a case of ossification in the supraspinatus tendon associated with the tear of the rotator cuff. Histopathologic study of the case is briefly discussed. A 72-year-old man came to our hospital because he had pain and a catching feeling in his left shoulder. Shoulder X-P, CT and MRI et al showed ossification in the supraspinatus tendon and the tear of the rotator cuff. Extirpation with repair of the rotator cuff was performed. Histopathologic study found mechanism of this ossification more similar to posterior longitudinal ligament ossification than enthesopathy. In the 4th month after the operation, clinical findings have greatly improved.
