• The polarographic determination of lignosulfonate in sulfite spent liquor was investigated. Though the lignosulfonate itself does not show any d.c. polarogram, it combines quantitatively with polarographically active methyene blue resulting in the precipitation, and methylene blue was used as the indicating Snbstance of lignosulfonate in sulfite spent liquor. Consequently, it was found that lignosulfonate was determined without the disturban-ce from the impurities in sulfite spent liquor. Moreover, it was found that the accurate and rapid determination of lignosulfonate was carried out easily with the am.perometric titration of methylene blue by sufite spent liquor.
