A retrospective analysis was performed on 74 children who had EEG with centrotemporal spikes and no organic brain lesion. The subjects were divided into 3 groups, in relation to the seizure types: 19 patients who had partial seizures alone throughout the observation period (group I), 35 patients who had secondarily generalized seizures in addition to partial seizures (group II), and 20 patients who had generalized tonicclonic seizures alone (group III). Family history of febrile convulsions were noted more frequently in groups II and III than in group I. The same tendency was noted in the incidence of past histories of FC: children of group III had experienced febrile seizures more frequently than those of group I. In group I, seizures occurred mostly in waking state, while in group III exclusively during sleep. The seizures are more easily controlled in Group II and Group III than in group I. Our result indicated that there is some differences in clinical features among children who had EEG with centro temporal foci.
