Synthesis of tin(IV) tungstoselenate has been done under a variety of conditions. The effects of mixing ratio of reagents and the pH of the mixture on the properties of the material have been studied. The crystalline sample of tin(IV) tungstoselenate has been chosen for detailed studies, such as chemical and thermal stabilities, chemical composition, pH-titrations, IR and X-ray analyses. On the basis of above studies a tentative formula has been proposed for tin(IV) tungstoselenate. The adsorption behaviour of metal ions in different concentrations of perchloric acid has been studied. On the basis of <I>K</I>d values few analytically important separations of metal ions have been achieved on small columns of tin(IV) tungstoselenate.
