The crystal structure of (−)-argemonine methiodide has been investigated by the X-ray method. The crystal system is orthorhombic, and the space group is P2<SUB>1</SUB>2<SUB>1</SUB>2<SUB>1</SUB>. The cell dimensions are <I>a</I>=13.443, <I>b</I>=20.838, and <I>c</I>=8.485Å. The structure parameters were refined by the block-diagonal least-squares method, and the final <I>R</I>-value was 0.055. The absolute configuration was determined by the Mo<I>K</I>α anomalous scattering to be 1S5S, which is consistent with the CD result.
