1. The sevum agglutinated at hair fat was measured with various kinds of animals. The quantity of sevum was richest in sheep, which was followed in the following order ; monkey, cat, mare, rat, goat, dog, guinea pig, pig, cow, rabbit and mouse.
2. The quantitative measurement of agglutinated sevum at rat hair fat was carried out after birth. Before the animal grew up sexually mature, no difference in sevacious excretion was observed between male and female. Sixty days after birth, when the animals were already mature, the quantity of sevum was larger in males than in females. Castration caused a decrease in sevum both in male and female animals, however, the male still showed more sevum than female.
3. The sevum excretion was increased in castrated rat with the administration of testosterone propionate (T.P.) or progesterone. On the contrary, it was decreased by estrone or estriol.
4. The combinations of T.P. or progesterone with estrone or estriol were tried on rat. The sevacious excretion increasing activity of T.P. or progesterone was inhibited by estrogens.
5. When estrogen was injected into normal rat, an alteration in the quantity of fat component was observed in both sevum and serum, whereas no correlation was found between them. Therefore, respective fat metabolisms were conceivable in sevum and serum.
6. By giving estrogen to rat, neutral fat and total cholesterol were decreased and unsaturated fatty acid was increased. These changes caused depressions in melting point and specific gravity of sevum and an elevation in iodine value. The above mentioned evidences seemed to be effective in making sevacious evacuation easy.
