The aim of this paper is to grasp history and trend of historical studies about part-time course in high school and to propose the subjects for historical study about culture of students going to part-time course in high school. Working young people were majority of young generation from the reconstruction period after World War II to the period of economic high growth. Therefore, it is important for clarifying total history of youth culture in post-war Japan to grasp the culture of working young people. Part-time course in high school was the most major educational organization for working young people at the time. To clarify student culture of part-time course in high school is needed to grasp culture of working young people. A lot of reports about part-time course in high school were published between 1950s and 1970s.The contents of reports were the investigation about the actual situation and mentality of students at part-time course in high school. But the reports are not utilized for contemporary study of the history about students at part-time course in high school. Historical studies about part-time course in high school are classified into (1) the history of the institution and actual situation, (2) historical study of the social functions, (3) historical study of the culture of students. Most of historical studies about part-time course in high school were (1) the history of the institution and actual situation and (2) historical study of the social functions. (3) Historical study of the culture of students are emerged recently. But these studies are the case study in particular period. There are two subjects of historical studies about part-time course in high school. The first is to clarify the culture of students with linking the qualitative case study and the outcomes of quantitative investigation in reports published between 1950s and 1970s at macro-level. Moreover it is to clarify the culture of students by analyzing the interactions between students and teachers at micro-level. The second is to analyze the part-time course in high school of local city type which is very important but have not been analyzed in prior studies.
