In order to clarify a part of the circulatory functions in pregnancy, particularly in toxic status, the author recorded the volume pulse wave of the finger tip of 702 cases of the pregnant, postnatal and non-pregnant women. Results obtained were as follows.<BR>1. In non-pregnant one, those who are older above 41 years of age, and who the systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg, tend to have abnormal pulse wave.<BR>2. In normal pregnancy, there are fewer cases of abnoraml pulse wave than the non-pregnancy with the same condition.<BR>In toxic pregnancy with hypertension, there are more abnormal pulse wave than normal pregnancy.<BR>3. Analyzing the pulse wave geometrically, the author observed the increment index (I.I.), ejection time index (Ej. I), decrement index (De. I), elasticity index (El. I) and dicrotic index (Di. I) . Normal pregnant showed, in comparison to non-pregnant, prolongation of Ej. I., shortning of De. I., increasing of Di. I. and decreasing of El. I. Thus it will be considered that, in pregnancy, the peripheral resistant be small, vascular elasticity be rich, and diamete of vessel be expanded. Prenatal pregnant has almonst the same indices as non-pregant.<BR>4. The older and hypertensive women show prolongation of I. I. and of De. I., shortning of Ej. I., and decreasing of El. I. and increasing of Di. I. In toxic pregnant with hypertension, prolongation of I. I. and of De. I., shortning of Ej. I. and decreaing of El. I. and of Di. I. are observed. The findings suggest the increase of the peripheral resistance, and the disappearance of the vascular elasticity. And the results, that the findings of toxic pregnant without hypertension are the same as those of non-pregnant, will indicate the pulse wave show the condition of the blood pressure of toxic pregnant.<BR>5. In toxic pregnancy, the positive rate of CPT is high. And positive CPT patients have prolongation of De. I. and increasing of Di. I.<BR>6. Before the appearance of pregnant intoxication, the pulse wave show prolongation of De. I, and increasing of Di. I., compared with non-toxic pregnant.<BR>7. To evaluate the prognosis of the late complications of pregnancy intoxication, the pulse wave itself is unsatisfactory.
