Time relationship in combined effect of irradiation and 5-Fu (5-fluorouracil) was studied in Ehrlich ascites tumor. Solid growth pattern in size, the tumor cells taken from'donner'mice being transplanted into subcutane of'recipient'mice, was the criteria. Irradiation and drug were administred to the tumor bearing donner mice, in peritoneal cavity of which the tumor cells were growing, to get rid of the effect of radiation as well as of drug upon the tumor transplanted recipient host mice and to be able to decide the drug administration time at will prior to transplanation. One hour administration of drug in this experiment was performed by injection of the drug into donner's peritoneal cavity one hour prior to withdrawal of cells for transplantation.<BR>As the results, administration of 5-FU 4 hours after irradiation was most effective for tumor cell damage.<BR>The tumor cells 4 hours after irradiation proved the least DNA synthetic rate owing presumably to accumulation of the cells in G-1 phase, and 5-FU strongly prevented thymidine synthesis which must be taken place prior to S (or in G-1) . Radiation induced accumulation in G-1 together with drug prevention of thymidine synthesis in G-1 reduced the survival of the tumor cells beside the sole radiation damage. There was solid growth pattern suggestive of the contribution of immunity in this experiment being left to be explored.
