Effect of Mucodyne on chronic sinusitis in children.

The therapeutic effect of S-carboxymethyl cysteine (Mucodyne®) was examined in 20 children with chronic sinusitis. About 30mg/kg/day of Mucodyne® was administered and the efficacy was evaluated after 8 weeks of treatment.1) The effectiveness on x-ray examination was 80%.2) Nasal airway resistance and saccharin time improved significantly after 8 weeks.3) The concentration of S-IgA in nasal secretions was decreased significantly after 8 weeks.4) No side effect was noted.
