The Correlation Between Histological Responses and Clinico-Radiographical Responses in Neoadjuvant Chemotheraphy for Osteosarcoma.

We treated 26 patients with osteosarcoma with neoadjuvant chemotheraphy. 16 patients were treated with systemic chemotheraphy and 10 patients with CDDP arterial infusions.Recovery of clinical and radiographical findings was scored accoding to the recovery. An analysis of the correlation between the clinical symptoms, radiological findings and histological responses suggest a high correlation to soft tissue mass reduction, and a moderate correlation to the clinical symptoms. Extra and intracortical mineralizations and the classical shell formation did not relate to the histological responses.Reductions of soft tissue mass occured in exponent fashon. The final ratio of soft tissue mass reduction correlated to the histological responses in many cases.
