Five male patients with lumbar facet joint pain received percutaneous electrical denervation of the posterior median branch, using the Yamoguchi University method. The mean age of the patients was 69 years, ranging from 52 to 80 years. The mean duration of follow-up was 8 months. The effect of denervation can be judged by electromyography of the multifidus muscle. All five cases had a good clinical course.
