A 79-year-old man was admitted to hospital because of bilateral shoulder pain and inability to adduct his arms. Radiographs of the shoulder joints revealed bilateral inferior dislocation (Luxatio erecta), but there were no fractures. The dislocations were reduced easily, and a Desault bandage was applied for three weeks. The patient could abduct his right arm only to a hundred degrees after one year of rehabilitation. This limitation appeared to be due to injury to the rotator cuff.
