Object
The Importance of IE techniques has long been stressed by the textile industry, but the progress in them has been slow.
This is presumably because IE techniques have not been well understood by textile engineers and because the wrong methods have been used to apply them.
It is particularly difficult to apply IE to the dyeing and finishing processes, because these processes are the final stage in the production of textile fabrics and production is in many small lots accordingly to customers orders and involves frequent changes in the production schedule.
The author has tried to use the most basic and simplest of IE techniques in order to see the present state of the dyeing mills and eventually bring about the use of all IE techniques.
Result
Using of the IE methods, Work Sampling, Time Study and Pareto's Curves, suffices to see the present state of the industry.
Use of these metods has led to several alterations in production methods resulting in a 10∼20% increase in productivity.
