The effect of temperature on the load-elongation properties of acrylic-fiber has been studied. Alpo, heat transfer to tow from heat-plates of a Turbo Stapler has been theoretically looked into. The results are as follows:<BR>(1) The elongation of an acrylic fiber is —lnε=a-bω-cθ<BR>where ε: elongation w: load<BR>θ: fiber temperature a, b, c: constants<BR>(2) The temperature of tow put between top and bottom plates is:<BR>(a) θx=-θ(θ-θ0) exp (-kH / Gc x) (Heat-transmission model)<BR>(b)1004 / 2T3p{(tan-1φx-tan-1φ0)+(tanh-1φx+tanh-1φ0)}=2k0H / cG x <BR>(Radiation model)<BR>(3) To get the same tow temperature, the temperature of a heat plate with clearance 3.5 mm wide must be 40∼50°C higher than that of a plate with a clearance 4mm wide.<BR>(4) The higher the heat-plate temperature, the narrowert the heat-plate clearance, the longer the heat-plate longer, and the less necessary is stretch-force.<BR>(5) The necessary stretch-force is 1.4∼2.2 times longer if the heat-plate clearance is narrow and if a single heater is used.
