The purpose of this study is to find out an analytic expression for the contact force acting between the cams and their follow rollers on a tricot machine from the standpoint of the kinetics of machinery, thus making the factors clear which influence upon the force of contact .<BR>The maximum value of the contact force will become several times as large as that obtained by the usual method of cam calculation due to the elastic deformation of the machine parts . Since the contact force is proportional to the square of the revolutions of the cam shaft, it increases too fast as the RPM of the shaft increases. The best remedy to decrease the contact force seems to reduce the mass moment of inertia of the moving parts of the machine by introducing, for example, the light alloys.
