The effects of the diameter of threads, the tension, and the number of revolutions upon the shape of the ballooning have been observed. The results are as follows : <BR>(1) The envelope of the ballooning can approximately be represented by a sire curve. So the ratio of the maximum radius to its abscissa may be called the "shape factor" representing the shape of the ballooning.<BR>(2) If the number of revolutions is constant, the shape factor varies approximately directly as the number of threads. And if the diameter of threads is constant, the shape factor increases with the number of revolutions, but the rate of increase declines as the speed becomes high.<BR>(3) The tension required to keep the shape factor constant increases rapidly with the number of revolutions. If the number of waves increases, the tension becomes exceedingly small.<BR>(4) The tension varies approximately directly as the number of threads and the number of revolutions. The tension per thread also bears a definite relation to the number of revolutiers.
