• What should be the lap quality in order to produce an ideal sliver on cards ? How does the lap quality depend upon the picker performance ? The author tried to express the picker lap quality by evenness, degree of opening, and degree of entanglement, etc. The effects of the kind, shape, RPM, gage of the beater, suction of the fan, suction distribution, and piano motion upon these factors were studied.<BR>In this paper the author described how the longitudinal and transverse unevennt ss was varied by the pickers according to their characterisies. How did the tufts of cotton fly in the picker was also observed.
