On asbestos spinning, the flyer wears out quickly being rubbed by asbestos thread. The author has calculated the traversing velocity of the thread through the top of the flyer leg. The minimum velocity occurs at a position of 40 degrees from the line connecting flyer leg center and bobbin center.<BR>In the experiment, the wear of the flyer is maximum in positions of 33 and 36 degrees, from the center line. This shows that the thread scratches the flyer leg until the velocity becomes minimum and wear takes place only at this position.<BR>Maximum worn places is not occurred more than 45 degrees. It is found by the experiment and the calculation that wear does not occur beyond 45 degrees f roni the center line.
