This is a study of a wide variety of oiling agents and the effects of the static friction of rayon staple on the various spinning properties, i. e., the quality and behavior of fibers in each process, and the quality of the spun yarn.
The following results have been obtained:
(1) From the point of view of the ease of processing, the optimum coefficient of static friction of fibers should be about 0.20-2.25.
(2) When the coefficient of the static friction of a fiber decreases, the orientation of fibers in the yarn improves, while the strength of the yarn decreases a a result of the enhanced slippage of the fiber.
(3) Generally, the effects of the coefficient of the static friction of fibers are similar even for the fibers of different deniers or staple lengths. On the fly frame and spinning, the finer deniers are apt to be more affected.
(4) The higher the draft, the greater the number of peps and the orientation of fibers, the increase being lamer for yarns with less n s and orientation.
