85 kindergarten children are asked about their parental preferences verbally and projectively. It is examined whether the two results of preference obtained both verbally and projectively coincide or not. The responses obtained by such projective tests as CAT, TAT and Rorschach do not correspond with the verbally expressed preferences. A new projective test, depth perception test, shows an explicit correspondence with the verbally expressed preference. That is, in depth perception test, the drawings of preferred parents are set closer to the observation point (i. e., the point where the subject is standing) than those of less preferred parents (p<01). This tendency is strengthened when the degree of preference is strong, and/or when the preference is reinforced by the experimenter. The results of analysis about the parental figures drawn by children also show a correspondence with the verbally expressed preference. That is, the sizes of figures of preferred parents are significantly larger than those of less preferred parents (p<.01), and purple color is used significantly more for less preferred parents (p<.01).
