Various infectious diseases are often complicated with diabetes mellitus, and pulmonary tuberculosis, in particular, is frequently seen among diabetics. The relationship between these two diseases has been studied already from various viewpoints, yet there are many problems remained unsolved. The present investigation was made to explore the mechanism of reduced resistance to infections in diabetes mellitus by examining the humoral resistance, in particular, the bactericidal action of serum and the compliment titer.
