Non-tuberculous causes of death among pulmonary tuberculosis patients were investigated with special reference to apoplexia, malignant neoplasma and heart diseases, and the results were compared with those in the general population.<BR>The mortality rate from the above mentioned three causes was calculated for pulmonary tuberculosis patients found in 1953, 1958 and 1963. The same procedure was applied for the general population, the age distribution of which was adjusted to the groups of tuberculosis patients. The mortality rate from the above three causes was compared between pulmonary tuberculosis patients and the general population.<BR>In the case of apoplexia, the mortality rate was higher among the general population than among tuberculosis patients, while in the case of malignant neoplasma and heart diseases, the mortality rates were higher among tuberculosis patients than among the general population. The results suggest the necessity of further investigation on the relation between tuberculosis and other diseases.
