• Cultivating 64 materials from various kinds of surgical tuberculosis, which showed in the table I, on glycerinated and not glycerinated Petragnani's egg media, we obtained 64 strains of acid-fast bacilli. Inoculation test in g u inea-pigs and cocks showed that, of these 64 stains, there were 9 strains (14, 0%) of saprophytic acid-fast bacilli and 55 (85.9%) of mammalian tubercle bacilli, but none of avian type. By subcutaneous, intra d e rmal and intraocular injections of various doses of bacilli in rabbits, of these 55 strains of mammalian tubercle bacilli, 52 strains (94.5%) are determined to be the human type and 3 (5.5%) to be the bovine type.
