• As one of a new application field of the results of plasma physics, the research fields on high energy particle accelerations and beam handling are growing rapidly. In the present paper, the fundamental ideas and recent results are reviewed, including a plasma beat wave accelerator, a <I>V</I><SUB>p</SUB>×<I>B</I> accelerator (or the Surfatron effect), a plasma wake field accelerator, plasma lenses and accelerators without plasma but based on principle from the <I>V</I><SUB>p</SUB> × <I>B</I> accelerator in the plasma. Recent experimental results are shown.
