It is assumed that the cell structures of sponge rubber are one of sphere type. For the practical calculation, octadecahedral cell is treated as sphere cell.<BR>The octadecahedral cell has hexagonal shadow shape and its vertical parts are directed in parallel with force direction. Center portions of 6 square plates are bended by compression without horizontal displacement of square sides.<BR>The stress under compression is calculated on square plate by the equation of force equilibrium on bending thin plate.<BR>The equation of the stress-strain relation for rubber sponge under compression is proposed, by using such parameters as diameter (sponge cell), Young's modulus (rubber), apparent density (sponge), real density (rubber) and Poisson ratio number (rubber).<BR>It is examined by the experimental data of rubber sponge whether the stress-strain relation of square plate represents its relation with real sponge structure.<BR>Then, the critical load of sponge deformation is estimated by using experimental data.
