In our previous report, an acid phosphatase was isolated from mung bean sprouts, and some properties of the enzyme were described. In the present experiment, we report several properties of a 3'-nucleotidase which was purified from mung bean sprouts. The results were as follows. (1) The preparation hydrolyzed 3'-AMP readily, but not p-nitrophenyl phosphate, pyrophosphate and 5'-AMP. (2) The 3'-nucleotidase had a pH optimum for 3'-AMP hydrolysis at 6.1. (3) The 3'-nucleotidase was strongly inhibited by Zn2+, or chelating agents such as EDTA and L-tartrate.
