It has been known to be troublesome to isolate individual glyceroglycolipid from plant tissues probably because of coexistence of pigments, neutral lipids, phospholipids, isoprenoids and so forth. This time, we could isolate relatively easily the three glycero-glycolipids, monogalactosyl diglyceride, digalactosyl diglyceride and sulfoquinovosyl diglyceride from alfalfa leaves largely by silicic acid column chromatography with chloro-form-acetone. The present paper describes the isolation technique, together with the analytical data of the respective glyceroglycolipid thus prepared.
