The vitamin C concentration was determined for 20 apples picked from the high and the low positions of the same tree of variety “Kokkô”, grown in Aomori prefecture. The difference of the vitamin C concentrations of reduced and total types in the flesh and the skin of the fruit, determined by the indophenol titration method was found to be highly significant (P=0.01). The mean of the vitamin C content of one fruit is shown in Table 8. The pH value of fruit juice from both positions was determined by Itanos electric quin-hydrone pH apparatus, but this difference was found insignificant
