Since 1949, domestic apple seedlings have been tested on their root-stock values, comparing with the seedlings of M. Sieboldii, which are used com-monly as apple root-stocks in our country. The result of this test shows that the former is never inferior to the latter in respect to stock per-formance. Besides, apple tree on apple seedling root-stocks are apt to grow rather uniformly, while M. Sieboldii stocks produced dwarf tree in a few cases. Consequently, the believes among some grow-ers that apple seedlings are unfavorable as root-stocks for the poor uniformity of trees, might be incredible.
