Extravasation of anticancer drug and its management.

The extravasation of cancer chemotherapeutic drugs is different from that of common drugs and causes the skin disorders. The skin disorders and vein damage caused by the extravasation bring sometimes serious problem for patients as anticancer drugs gain wider use. The main skin symptoms are erythema, swelling blister, erosion, ulcer, necrosis. These symptoms continue long-term and accompany with strong pain, which cause sleepless and mental suffering. Furthermore, it is impossible to use the anticancer drugs again by vein damage.We devised the therapy of toxicities caused by the extravasation of anticancer drugs immediately after the extravasation or after the occurrence of skin symptoms, and favorable results were obtained in many patients.
