It is known that Bisai in Aichi prefecture is the largest producing region of woolen cloths in Japan. The region has the characteristic that high grade fabrics with patterns are dominant in products. In addition, the producing process of such fabrics is remarkably divided into many sub-process. Each sub-process is generally undertaken by individual manufacture or establisment. Corresponding to both production method and seasonal variation of the demand of woolen cloths, most of manufactures or establishments have private warehouses to keep their products and materials. This type of warehouse has little changed in its function and the volume of storage even under the rationalization of physical distribution of goods which have been especially developed after the recession caused by a high rise of oil price, so called the Oil Shock, in 1973.On the other hand, there are many commercial warehouses with a long tradition in that region. Commercial warehouses play the role of storing large volume of woolen yarn, which keep a balance between demand and supply. But the amount of stock of commercial warehouses has decreased after the Oil Shock. The main reason is that warehousing companies have rationalized the physical distribution of woolen yarn in order to keep the efficiency under the new circumstance after the Oil Shock.
