The writers have an interest in the slope failures in Thailand which consist of the natural features contrast in a striking way with Japan, and researched them on Nakhon Si Thammarat in the southern part of Thailand, The results are as follows.1) The slope failures caused by a heavy rain storm in Thailand show a tendency to be controlled by the topographical features; zero or first order stream, front of erosion, function of watershed and others.2) Surface soil of a surveyed area includes two types: deep weathering red soil and shallow weak weathering whitish soil. The slope failures occurred in both types.3) The slope failure materials are rich in Kaolinite on the basis of results of an X-ray diffraction analysis.
