The following equation is proposed as basic equation to express the time process of tertiary creep on slope failure as: dv/dt=av+bv2. Here, v is the velocity of surface displacement, t is the time of observation and a and b are constants. Dimensionless equation is obtained from this basic equation. The validity of this dimensionless equation is examined by the field data. These dimensionless data is agreed well with the curve dimensionless basic equation on the v-l phase, where l is the displacement. Secondary, parameter a/(bv0) on basic equation is taken up as the factor regarding time to failure, where v0 is the initial value of v in tertiary creep. This parameter is studied for shape factor of slide shape and creep factor of slide motion. It is shown from these analysis that parameter a/(bv0) is important to predict the time to failure.
