Polarographic determination of a small amount of lead in dithizone extract of sodium chloride reagent was described in the preceding report, and the same method has now been applied to the quantitative determination of copper and zinc. For determination of copper and zinc, 200 m<I>l</I> of a pure 30 % aqueous solution of sodium chloride containing 1540 γ copper and 9.822.8 γ zinc was extracted with dithizone-carbontetrachloride solution at pH 9, followed by extraction with hydrochloric acid. The extracts were combined, and evaporated to dryness; and the polarographic determination of copper was made using tartaric acid-ammonium acetate supporting electrolyte, and that of zinc using potassium thiocyanateammonium acetate supporting electrolyte. The extraction of copper was 98 ± 4 % and that of zinc 101±5 %. The results of quantitative determinations of lead, copper, and zinc in four sodium chloride reagents are tabulated in this and the preceding report.
