The relations of quality of graphite rod electrode, amount of sample solution, electrode temperature at quenching and drying condition for quenched electrode to adsorbed amount and distribution of elements in the electrode in quenched electrode spectrographic analysis are investigated by tracer method with <SUP>64</SUP>Cu and <SUP>72</SUP>Ga as tracers, and the effects of those above-mentioned factors on accuracy of analysis and detectability are studied with the following results.(1) Adsorbed amount and distribution of concerned elements in graphite rod depend on the quality of the graphite.(2) Adsorbed amount of concerned elements in graphite rode reaches a maximum value, which is regarded as an equilibrium state, when red-heated graphite rod is immersed in a sample solution without delay.(3) The volume of sample solution need not be more than to immerse the graphite rod.(4) Adsorbed amount of concerned elements in graphite rod is represented by an empirical equation which is analogous to Freundlichs isotherm and has no connection with constituents other than the concerned elements.(5) From the detectability point of view, 110°C for 30 minutes is adequate for drying of quenched graphite rod.
