Low pass filters used in the infrared region are fabricated, and their transmission characteristics and their temperature dependencies are described.<BR>The low pass filters are essentially Ge-filters with multilayer-interference antireflecting coatings, PbTe and ZnS being used as the high and the low index material, respectively.The average percent trans-mittance of filters is 0.01-0.1% in the rejection region, and 60-80% in the transparent region.<BR>The influence of thickness of the antireflecting layer on the number and the amplitude of the oscilla-tion in the pass band region is discussed.<BR>The cut-on wavelength shifts 0.12 it to longer wavelength and the transmittance in the rejection region decreases as the filter temperature is decreased to 78°K.
