Investigation of fouling organisms on the galvanized steel wire neting of flogting cage culturing marine fishesinthe middle and west of Japan was conducted. The fouling was fouling was found to be more in cages culturing blue fin tuna and red sea bream, and to be less in cages culturing young puffer and striped Knifejaw than that culturing yellow tail. Akso, the fouling on wire netting was found to be less than that on polyethylene netting. The striped knifejaw, about 9% cultured in combination with yellow tail was found to prey upon the tail and fins of sich yellow tail whose suimming ability was weakened, bu not to harm healthy fish. Besides, in the cobination culturing cage of three species of adult puffer, red sea bream and striped knifejaw (C.1.2%) it was found that they did not harm each other. The striped knifejaw Oplegnathus sp. in those combination culturing cage was observed to prey upon and remove all kinds of fouling organisms on the wire netting as is obsereved in the single species culturing cage. On the other hand, the cage culturing yellow tail, the phenomenon of fouling restrait could be observed on the internal surface in the bottom wire netting due to the fish body contact.
