1. As the supplement of the description of the bathymetric distribution of respective species of groundfishes illustrated in the second report of this series, the distribution of groundfishes near the outer edge of the continental shelf is shown in this report. 2. The peculiarity of the present example is being hauled up from both of the terminals of the row by two boats of different size and manualing response. This makes the analyses very complicated. 3. After √x+0.5 transformation of the catch by skate, it is indicated that the abrupt increase in the density of the hooked individuals of most of the species hooked by the skates in the first quarter or half of the part hauled up by the mother-ship makes the present example not to be regarded as homogeneous with respect to the catch. This is thought to suggest the accumulation of the shallow water species in front of the cliff hanging over the continental slope. 4. The exclusion of these parts makes the present example capable of being regarded as homogeneous and employable to the present purpose. 5. In this way, it is found out that all the species other than true cod are hooked by chance along a row of gears settled on the bottom of 155m deep, although arrow toothed halibut, ray or true cod is caught abundantly whereas halibut or Alaska pollack less abundantly.
