• A clinical case of portal vein infection leading to fatal intra abdominal heamorrage in a 74 y/o male acute myelogenic leukemia patient.<BR>Spontaneous rupture of the liver is an uncommon entity. Misdiagnosis and late treatment contribute to the high mortality rate, 80% or over. Spontaneous rupture of the liver occurs in the following situations. Rupture from the hepatomas, rupture of the liver in a pregnant woman in the third trimester, and bleeding from peliosis hepatis.<BR>This report is the first case of portal vein infection, leading to spontaneous rupture of the liver and death. The patient was a luekemic patient under treatment, who had been immuno suppressive state.
