A new method of soil treatment in which preservative agents formed a film and had simultaneous termiticidical and dampproof effects is presented in this paper. The dampproof effects, some physical properties, and the preservative effects against termites and fungi were carried out in this study. Results were summerized as follows.<BR>(1) The mean value of the rate of water permeation was measured at 30g/m<SUP>2</SUP>.day. It showed that the sample had high dampproof effect, both in laboratory and field tests.<BR>(2) Tensile shear strength was 25.5kgf/cm<SUP>2</SUP> at 1.2 mm film thickness.<BR>(3) Leaching of chlorpyrifos from the sample film was scarcely observed.<BR>(4) In the laboratory test against termites, sample containing 0.5% chlorpyrifos had high termiticidical effect and no change in the appearance of the sample from the field test was observed.<BR>(5) No significant weight loss caused by fungi in the sample containing 0.25% 4-chlorophenyl-3-iodo-propagyl formal was observed.<BR>From the above results, the preservative agents showed high dampproof and termiticidical effects, and did not have any adverse side effects in practical apprications.
