In order to clarify the mechanism of the interaction between wood and acryl high polymer, the dynamic viscoelastic properties of the composites were compared with those of the constituent materials. Wood and acryl high polymer composites were prepared by crosslinking the copolymers synthesized from methylmethacrylate monomers and 2-hydroxymethylmethacrylate monomers with wood under the presence of brock-isocyanate.<BR>The results obtaind were as follows;<BR>1) With the increase of crosslinking, loss modulus E"max (1) [caused by polymer] shifted to high temperature side and loss modulus E"max (2) [caused by original wood] shifted to low temperature side.<BR>2) The shift to low temperature side of loss modulus E"max (2) depended on the amount of hydroxy groups in copolymer.<BR>3) Apparent shift of temperature of loss modulus E"max (1), (2) of crosslinked composites were also recognized in the case of extracted composites with aceton. From the facts described above, we concluded that the interaction between wood and high polymer depended on not only hydrogen bond but also more strong secondary bond.
