Hachikusan (Commercial Name in Japan, Common Name : imidacloprid, Chemical Code No. : NTN 33893) is a novel termiticide belonging a completely new category of insecticide.
Imidacloprid was synthesized as NTN 33893 by Nihon Bayer Agrochem in 1985.
The compound being a specific chemical structure and mode of action with low mammalian and fish toxicities has finished its biological tests.
Due to stable property in soil in spite of its moderate initial killing activity and slow action against the termites, Hachikusan is especially appropriate for the ground application with 20 % flowable formulation.
To cope with contradictory requests from the market recently that newly developed termiticides should be mild to environment, safer to applicators and should be kept its effectiveness in longer period than conventional termiticidies being on the market, Hachikusan has been paid much efforts and trials from all directions in research such as not only biological performance but also environmental science, toxicology and formulation studies etc. in its development procedure.
It will be a great merit that recommendable application dosage of Hachikusan is 1/10 times lower than conventional termiticides.
