Creep Property of Pb-Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> Composites Fabricated by Mechanical Alloying Process

Pb-Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> composites containing 3.2, 5.1 and 7.4 vol % Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> (1μ) were made by mechanical alloying process, followed by compacting and extruding, to improve the mechanical properties of lead. Creep property of Pb-Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> composites was evaluated through the creep test in the range of temperature 160°C to 240°C. Effect of Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> volume fraction on minimum creep rate was estimated and also steady state creep equation was derived.
