Pollen counts of Japanese cedar were studied at five institutions, i. e. Osaka University, Yao City Hospital, Kawanishi City Hospital, Habikino Hospital and Kansai Asthma Center, during February in 1981 to July in 1982.In Osaka, the forest zone of Japanese cedar is very limited as compared with other areas. But in 1982, the total pollen counts of Japanese cedar were almost same as other areas. The total pollen count was 4927/cm2 in 1982 and it was about 25 times than ones in 1981 at Osaka University. As the wind in spring blow from all directions in Osaka, Japanese cedar pollens are probably scattered from all around Osaka. The total pollen counts of Japanese cedar increased markedly for the next year when the mean temperature in July was higher 1°C compared with the monthly normals. While it decreased when the mean temperature in July was lower than the monthly normals. Therefore, it seemed that the mean temperature in July had a decisive influence upon the total number of Japanese ceear for the ndxt year.
