Diagnostic evaluation of ethmoidomaxillary plate (EMP) was performed. Two hundred plain X-ray films of Caldwell's view and one hundred and forty three AP Polytomographic films (3cm from Nasion) were investigated. All the cases were without apparent bony destructions.By Caldwell's view, EMP is identified in both sides in 68% of cases, identified only on one side in 19%, and identified on neither sides in 13%. By Polytomography, EMP is identified on both sides in 77.6%, identified only one side in 14%, and identified on neither sides in 8.4%.Case presentations were done by facial trauma, maxillary cyst and maxillary cancer with films of Caldwell's view, Poly tomography and CT, with the emphasis on EMP.EMP is the triangular area for attack by transantral ethmoidectomy and is also one of the sites of predilection by maxillary cancer.EMP should be routinely included in the radiographic evaluations of paranasal sinuses.
