外耳道深部及び鼓膜に見られる肉芽性炎症 : Otitis ext. granulosa 及び myringitis granulosa

Six cases of granulating otitis externa and two cases of myringitis granulosa were reported. In the literatures of these diseases the repots by Moffett, Clark, Johnston and Punt were found, but they are not common or usual type of external otitis and myringitis. It may be supposed that these diseases might be miss-diagnosed as chronic purulent otitis media with marginal perforation.In Japan there has been only one report on this subject by S. Fuwa, our co-worker, in 1953, but little attention has been drawn to these diseases.Bacteriological examination of these diseases could not confirm any causing microorganisms including fungi.Histological study of granulation tissue revealed subacute nonspecific inflammation.On pathogenesis of these diseases the a_??_ have the following opinion. Moist condition _??_ external meatus due to variable conditions _??_ cause desquamation of not the superficial laye_??_ the whole layer of the epithelium in the deep_??_ atus or on the tympanic membrane, becaus_??_ epithelium in these area is extremly thin.Desquamation of the epithelium might _??_ in growth of granulation, which takes a c_??_ course following secondary infection.As the treatment curretage or cauterization _??_ granulation, with combined use of antibiotion _??_ effective.
