Applicability of a fibrous filter method to the analysis of a gas-particle mixture was studied by the examination of filtering characteristics of iodine vapor by filters and of desorption of iodine therefrom. Adsorption of iodine vapor on metallic fume particles were analysed by applying three different methods such as: (1) diffusion tube method, (2) composite filter (silver mesh and filter paper) method, and (3) single filter method. Aerosol particles used for the experiments were mainly Zinc fumes of submicron size range. The results obtained by these methods were in good agreement, and the saturated amount of adsorbed iodine on fume particles was much increased beyond the mono-layer adsorption at the high concentration of iodine vapor.
