There has been a steady increase in the use of gas shielded metal arc welding because of its higher productivity and lower welding cost.However, there are occasions when weld defects occur in the weld joint and ways to avoid the defects are asked from some fabricators.So, for the people newly concerned to the welding process, how to select the welding parameters and how to avoid the defects such as pore, lack of fusion, crack and so on are described in this paper.
