An investigation was made on stainless steel parts prepared by means of hot-, warm-and cold-forging of pre-sintered blank.The results were summarized as follows:(1) It is undesirable to hot-forge the blank after air heating at the temperature above 2700°C due to the oxidation damage of surface layer.(2) Warm-forging at 200°C, in case of air heating, gives the blank a good compressibility for moderate press cycles, while forging at the lower temperature of 100°C results in the die trouble.(3) Cold-forging can make the blank increased density. Further more, when the cold-forged parts in re-sintered, pore is larger and spherodized, followed by a dercrease of open pore.(4) The parts with high density after buff polishing were found to have a better combination of mirror surface and corrosion resistance.
